Exploder's 101

In chapter 4- Exploder’s (of Lysa Terkeurst book Unglued), there are many tools that can be used when you begin to Explode.  I can really use these tools because I can bear witness to being a daily Exploder.  Sometimes I’m an Exploder Who Shames myself and at other times I’m an Exploder that Blames Others.  Nonetheless, after reading Chapter 5, I have a new outlook on every situation that comes up against me.

One of the most profound statements of this chapter is “Do not check in with the screaming demands of the world before you exchange whispers with God” (pg. 62).

The reason this jumped off the pages at me is that I had never thought of it that way… the world can wait but my time with my creator can’t.  I am a night owl and that is when the house is settled and everyone is sleep.  But I need to do some adjustment with my schedule.  It’s fine that I get my busy work done late in the midnight hours but I have to go to sleep early enough to get up and talk to God before the house begins to move.  If I do this then the Exploder will be less likely to explode.  I know that the Lord will give me great council as I seek his wisdom.  I want his wisdom so that I can work on my Soul Integrity so that when the enemy; which is not a person, place, thing or event comes my way then I can respond in a Christian manner…. Yes Christian.  We say were of Christ but are we lining up with what his word says?

I love the way Terkeurst tied these two verses together:

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. (Ephesian’s 6:12 NIV)

Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel (Ephesians 6:19 NIV84)

See the struggles that I have are not of this world…It wasn’t a friend, a child or a church member. It’s the enemy that comes to cause confusing.  So the next time I feel like exploding, I will remember that whatever comes out my mouth will make it known the mystery of Christ.  To me that mystery is Love and if you love you won’t explode.

In order not to Explode I will have to exercise my hardest fruit of the spirit “Self Control”.  See when I explode it’s like a child who has had too much to eat and went on a ferris wheel it all comes up…you get the picture.  So in order for me to get to the Self-control that Terkeurst refers to as “Holy Restraints” I have work to do.

I will continue not only to eat of the fruit of self-control but I will digest it and make it a part of me.  I will remember in every situation who the true enemy is as stated in 1Peter 5:8-9(NIV84).

"Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings."

You won’t get me you devourer because I’m two steps ahead!  I will stay glued together through the word of God and the Holy Spirit that dwells within me.

To Do List:
  1. Make time for Quiet Time
  2. Digest the word of God
  3. CraftMy Response Template

  4. Good Morning Girl neighbor over here. It is so encouraging to see so many women in the word this year and becoming glued to God. I hope you are able to get up early as I too struggle with this especially today. God bless.
